Blue Sapphire (or star sapphire), the vivid color blue, is caused by the inclusions of titanium and iron. Colors Pale to midnight blue. The sapphire is believed to be a stone of wisdom and royalty, prophecy, and Divine favor. Sapphire of deep blue signified the height of celestial hope and faith and is believed to bring protection, good fortune, and spiritual insight. It was a symbol of power and strength, but also of kindness and wise judgment. King Solomon’s fabulous magical ring was said to have been a blue sapphire and so a symbol of wisdom. The ancient Greeks called the sapphire the jewel of the sun god Apollo.
Blue Sapphire assists in healing all parts of the body and soothes insomnia. It is also used to relieve headaches, fever, nosebleeds, and issues of the ears, including hearing, infection, inner-ear imbalances, and vertigo. The stone is considered beneficial to the thyroid, and swollen glands and in treating problems related to speech and communication. It is believed to be helpful to the nervous system, and in treating blood disorders, dementia, and degenerative diseases.
